Resume: Troels Primdahl (b. 20.09.1984, Incheon, South Korea) started his professional career in 2010 as choreographer and interdisciplinary artistic director in his own production company established together with producer Kristian Schwarz. He has been studying MA in ‘Aesthetics and Culture’ at Aarhus University while he concurrently was trained at Aarhus Art Academy in 'Installation and Conceptual Art'. Today he is still associated with the university, since he's now engaged as academic mentor with ‘philosophical aesthetics’, 'radical theory' and ‘political art’ as areas of specialization. Additionally, Troels is a board member of AUT, where he is staging concerts and performances with contemporary composition music.
Through his recent explorations of interdisciplinary approaches Troels searches for new transgressive interventions in the aesthetic mode of expression as well as in the existential and psychological questions in the political landscape. This has over time become a signature of his field of work, which includes choreography, set design, film directing and transmedia art.
Troels is today based in Berlin from where he is initiating new collaborative projects with international artists, among these composer Kaj Duncan David [DK/UK], composer Michael Harrison [US], video artist Jolene Mok [CH] and actor Meher Awrachi [TN].
In 2013 Troels was awarded with ’The Special Announcement’ at the international choreography competition 'Make Your Move' with this note from jury: »The choreographic choice extended into his selection of performers. Authentic and sincere, this choreographer displays great potential.« For his piece FALL 2.0 he has recently received ’The Audience Award 2013/14’ from Århus Stiftstidende og Aarhus Scenekunstcenter [DK].
