Bio
I studied drama in Lisbon, and the course, even if intending to be wide-ranging, was mostly classical, or at least text centred. I started to understand that probably this wasn’t the kind of theatre I was looking for, that maybe I wanted other type of communication.
Later, in Porto, I found the right people to work with and we started to develop a practice called Directing in Real Time. A game between director, actors and audience in what part of the show is created on stage by all of them. We worked on Tadeusz Kantor and Chekov – the last one, a challenging project due to the difficulty to work audience engagement with a playwright who works with the 4th wall.
In London I have been performing my own pieces:
(just)happening is about time, love and dead and plays with presences and absences. It uses letters written by friends specifically for the project and which will be open for the first time and red on stage by two members of the audience.
London- The Town of Ugly Curtains is about being an immigrant in London, how one sees the city and how the city transforms one. In this piece few members of the audience help to create the script and incorporate few characters.
Currently, I am doing a MA in Performance Making at Goldsmiths University of London, which gives me the opportunity to develop my work in a space possible to take risks and experiment. I am now working on Performance/Installation; in which the set design construction it’s part of the show and stays after as an installation art.I am also interested on Surreality Shows; in which real life is brought into the stage creating a fictional performance piece.
