Kathryn is a Perth-based Director and Producer. In 2007 she co-founded The Duck House Theatre with five other female graduates from Edith Cowan University’s Performance course. Kathryn produced The Magdalena Perth Theatre Workshop Festival in 2010, which provided a platform for women’s performance work and a forum for critical discussion. In August 2011 she was invited to attend Magdalena@25, The Magdalena Project’s 25th anniversary, a festival which aimed to honour the women who have help facilitate over 100 Magdalena events, and bring them all together in Cardiff, Wales the project’s birthplace. She received funding from the Ian Potter Cultural Trust to attend this event.
As the Director of The Duck House, Kathryn’s projects include They ran ‘til they stopped (PICA ’11), A Disappearing Act (The Blue Room Theatre ’11), The Bearskinner (Theatre Works ‘11 and The Blue Room Theatre ’09), Acts of Undressing (Yirra Yaakin ‘10), The Swallow-Tailed Coat (The Blue Room ’09), Oscar (The Rechabites’ Hall ‘08) and The Oresteia (The Blue Room ‘08). With the exception of They ran ‘til they stopped, Kathryn has produced all of The Duck House’s work. She has also been mentored by Fiona de Garis since 2010 and she has worked as a producing intern and employee with Fiona at Performing Lines WA. Kathryn is the current part-time co-ordinator of the Perth Jazz Society in which she is in charge of contracting and booking venues and musicians.
