Choreographer, Dancer and Performer
Bio
Mute Comp.Physical Theatre was founded in 1999 by choreographers Jacob Stage (b. 1969) and Kasper Ravnhøj (b. 1977). Both trained actors and dancers. Stage and Ravnhøj experiment with a razor-sharp balance between dance and theatre.
Mute Comp. has wowed audiences with their subtle and figurative performances through a fresh and accessible dance style that embraces all genres and moods – from slapstick here hardcore Physical movemnets, to live music, Slam poetry and Contempoery dance.
Constantly challenges the body and working on the edge of the possible, often putting themselves at physical risk. Their daring is combined with a playfulness and a unique physical language, which has its own vocabulary and defies any school or method: Rather, Mute Comp. is informed by the contemporary - be it art, film or music - and by their surrounding.
Alwayes with a political agenda.
The duo has already won a number of prizes and is at the foreground of the Danish dance theatre scene.
Since 2003 Mute Comp. Physical Theatre has been funded steadily by the Danish Arts Council Committee for the Performing Arts / Statens Kunstråds Scenekunstudvalg.
