Karolina Magnusson Murray has spent the past two years working in Bolivia and Colombia, after having been invited to carry out a workshop, in connection with her practice, at Residencia en la Tierra in Armenia, Colombia. These residencies gave her the time to find and pursue intriguing new subjects for her performance/film-based work. Her work involves creating opportunities to enter the homes of men in their 60’s, get to know them and explore various father/daughter roles and relationships, drawing inspiration from psychodrama, mythology and the archetypes of the unconscious mind. Having never known her father, men of a certain age pose and represent both a challenge and a mystery to her and therefore these performances aim to satisfy her intrigue about the lives of older men. Since returning to England, she has shown and performed at Hackney WickED festival, will be performing at A Month of Performance, Berlin, in May, has secured a place on ALAS Professional Development Residency from the 4th of June – 9th July 2012 and is currently the artist-in-resident for The Culture Trip.
