Bio
Howard Lotker is an American performer, director, pedagogue and translator based in Prague, Czech Republic. He received his MFA at the Department of Authorial Creativity and Pedagogy at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (DAMU - KATAP), where he teaches (Inter)acting with the Inner Partner (IWIP), improvisation, site-specific performance, devising theater and acting. He received a BFA in Acting from UC Santa Barbara. Lotker is Artistic Director of the HoME (theater), critically acclaimed for their meta-theatrical experimental performances which include site-specific and interactive elements. He directed HoME's performances Oedipus (complexly), Little Man, and DoMA/at home, which won the Next Wave award for “Project/Performance of the Year in Alternative Theater ” in the Czech Republic in 2006. Since 2009 HoME has organized international exchanges of performances and workshops through its Change/Exchange program. In 2007, Lotker with colleagues did a series of workshops of IWIP in NYC. Now he is one of the leading international IWIP instructors giving workshops and classes for international groups and students regularly in Central Europe and in the US - NYC, Philadelphia, Colorado. In 2008 he taught a site-specific theater workshop at the School of Visual Theater in Jerusalem, Israel.
In Prague Lotker has collaborated with Czech theatre artists like, KREPSKO, Miroslav Bambusek, Nora Sopkova, Kristof Kintera, Tomas Zizka, Jan Nebesky. Lotker has worked with international artists like Dogtroep (NL), Joao Fiadero (PT); Carol Brown (UK).
