Cara Scarmack is a theatre-maker based in New York City. She has had the great fortune to direct her own work What Happened In Ohio with the theatre ensemble The Roadsters, of which she is a part. She has also directed her own BETTER NOT TOUCH THAT.

Her theatre work has been presented in NYC at The Kitchen, Cherry Lane Theatre, New York Theatre Workshop 4th Street Theatre, a site-specific warehouse in Gowanus, the Williamsburg Art and Historical Center, and the Brecht Forum. Participant in The Field’s Winter 2010 Emerging Artist Residency and recipient of a Puffin Foundation production grant. Assistant director to Gisela Cardenas and Erwin Maas.

A native of Ohio, Cara has studied at Denison University, The Lee Strasberg Institute, the Will Geer Theatricum Botanicum, Odin Teatret, and the LaMaMa International Symposium for Directors.

As a musician, Cara sings and plays guitar with mandolinist Kate Prascher in their bluegrass duo The Wildwood Sisters. Cara is a member of The Field’s Sponsored Artist Program, an Affiliate Artist of New Georges and a proud staff member of New Dramatists.
