Bio
Amy Nostbakken is a practitioner, writer, performer and musician based in Canada. Amy trained for two years at the École Internationale de Théatre Jacques Lecoq in Paris 2007 and graduated from Concordia University in Montréal with a degree in Theatre Studies in 2005. Amy is an artistic director of Theatre Ad Infinitum, which creates physical, devised theatre including First Class, a play she wrote and performed which played at Edinburgh’s Festival Fringe and toured in 2009. Amy wrote, composed and performed the one woman show The Big Smoke which premiered at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2010 where it received immense critical acclaim. The Big Smoke has just concluded a three month National tour to venues throughout the UK where it won an Argus Angel Award at the 2011 Brighton Festival Fringe. Amy is now nominated for a 2011 Manchester Theatre Award for Best Studio Performance and was nominated for Best Female Performer in the Latest Awards by Brighton’s Latest 7 Magazine UK. She is making her North American debut with The Big Smoke at Factory Theatre in February 2012. This February Amy is also performing in Barrel Crank with Suitcase In point theatre Company and Every Day is a Beautiful Day directed by Rose Plotek, at the Rhubarb Festival in Toronto.
