Site-specific performance
“Cleaning the House”, curated by Marina Abramović, NMAC Foundation; June 2004

Deosil is a site- and experience-specific performance constructed after an intensive 5-day workshop led by Marina Abramović. The artist, shrouded in local flora, became noticeable only if approached by viewer. She is at her peak, abundant, fertile, perfect, yet on the threshold of wilting, of waning. She is both freshly born of the earth and dying there. If viewer held her gaze, she uttered “No tengas miedo” (“Don’t be afraid”); “No tengo miedo” (“I’m not afraid”).
