“Homemade Burlesque Show,” Diane’s Circus, 2010
Influenced by feminist, burlesque and circus traditions, Alive Inside presents the artist in a dress of balloons that participants are allowed to pop, one by one, with an offered knife. Viewers must jab the balloon, spraying red glitter, and ultimately leaving the woman more undressed and vulnerable, covered only with the residue of medical tape and flaccid balloon parts.
