ART PROJECT BY MARIËLLE VIDELER

Intrigued by the ideology of the artist and socialist William Morris (1834-1896) and his ideas on craft, nature and simple life, Mariëlle Videler began in 2011 with a series of drawings of symbols and hand tools that is related with the legacy of Morris. These drawings are reduced, mixed and then screen-printed. The end result consists of 117 different miniatures, in an edition of 1000. Using a hammer and a wad punch - an old hand tools intended for producing small washer-shaped pieces of leather - the miniatures are hit out of sticker paper and via two euro coins circulated during a performance which will take place on 26 and 27 January 2012. The pieces of art that as residue arises from this action is for sale at their intrinsic value,
2 euros.
