April 1 - 3, 2011
Electronic Music Foundation presents "The Extended Piano", featuring numerous works for the Yamaha Disklavier.A robotic, MIDI controlled, grand piano, the disklavier allows composers to create works with techniques and dynamics beyond human capabilities and to be presented without a performer. These characteristics make it an instrument challenging for composers and particularly qualified for installed works.
The festival is curated by Elliott Sharp, Steve Horowitz and FF Veniero Rizzardi bringing some Italian and non Italian music
"HyperSteps" for disklavier. An algorithmic piece is based on Coltrane's Giant Steps by Diego Dall'Osto will be played on April 3, 6pm.
