A Resource for Performing Artists, Scholars and Audiences.
For the eighth consecutive year, artists from all over the world will meet in Bilbao and Barakaldo in order to exchange ideas and artistic experiences. They will present new creations, renewed proposals and, on the whole, innovative work
ACT 2011 presents 11 different works to contest, 7 more pieces to be exhibited, plus a several-hour videodance programme. Artists from countries such as Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Belgium, Greece, Sweden, Finland, Austria, United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Germany, Portugal ... as well as a bit closer such as Bilbao, Salamanca, Cádiz. Besides, a surprise piece will be shown at the closing night as the result of the theatre process within the Ensemble Week.
Zero Espazioa in the Guggenheim Bilbao Museum, the Teatro Barakaldo, Bilborock and the Kafe Antzokia will all be the venues to show the programme.
This year, ACT organises an international school (International Ensemble Week) financially supported by the European Union through the IYME (Internacional Young Makers’ Exchange), a collaboration network with several European festivals. The topic of the Ensemble Week is “The performer in front of the audience”
Taking advantage of the fact that over one hundred artists and professionals are meeting in ACT, we have developed a framework aimed for the promotion of these new creations. To do this, we have invited international programmers from theatres as well as festivals from the European Scene.
